One of the coolest things about doing radio every day is getting to discover new music and spin songs that get stuck in your head—in the best way possible. Every week, I’m going to share three tracks that are either in rotation here on Q102 or just something living on my personal playlist that I think you need to check out.
This isn’t a “Top 40 countdown,” and it’s not about the charts—it’s just about the songs that are hitting me right now, and maybe they’ll hit you the same way.
Here are this week’s three tracks that I can’t get enough of:
Rob Zombie – The Ballad of Sleazy Rider
I don’t think I’m ever not on a Rob Zombie kick. A few weeks ago, Mike The Intern hooked me up with a signed vinyl of Zombie’s latest album, The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy. I’ve been spinning it nonstop — it’s weird, dirty, and heavy… exactly my kind of vibe. Hoping we get some new music from Zombie soon, but until then, I’ll keep cranking this one loud.
Josey Scott – Who?
I’ve been a fan of Saliva and Josey Scott since I was 15. I still remember trying to record “Your Disease” on a cassette tape when Q102 played it back in the day. Fast forward 20+ years, and not only am I spinning Saliva on Q102 — I’m lucky enough to call Josey and his amazing family friends.
Recently, Josey dropped two new tracks in response to Bobby Amaru (Saliva’s current lead singer), telling Rock Feed that the songs came after a few shots were fired his way. No matter the story, it’s just awesome to hear new music from the original voice of Saliva, Josey Scott.
Keith Wallen – I’m With You
I’m telling you right now — my buddy Keith Wallen is one of the most underrated musicians and vocalists in the business. I’ve been a massive fan since the first time I heard his band Copper on Q102. These days, Keith is killing it with Breaking Benjamin, but if you didn’t know, he’s also been dropping absolute bangers on his own for years.
One of his latest releases is a cover of Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You.” That’s a massive song to take on, but Keith not only nails it — I’d even say I like his version more than the original.
