The Daytona 500 — motorsport’s most iconic season opener — is set to roar back to life this Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 1:30 p.m.. This 68th running of “The Great American Race” brings the full NASCAR Cup Series battle to Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, where 200 laps and 500 miles of high-speed, pack-style racing await.

Since its inaugural running in 1959, the Daytona 500 has stood apart as NASCAR’s most prestigious event, kicking off each season with adrenaline and championship ambitions. Drivers will complete 200 laps around the 2.5-mile superspeedway, with drafting, strategy, and speed playing massive roles all afternoon.

Most Daytona 500 wins ever? Richard Petty’s seven victories at the “World Center of Racing” remain the record, with Petty Enterprises leading all teams with nine in total.

Last year’s race was an overtime thriller — 201 laps, 56 lead changes, and William Byron taking the checkered flag for a second straight Daytona 500 triumph.

The Speedweeks build-up includes single-car qualifying and two Duel races that set most of the starting positions for Sunday’s main event.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just tuning in for the excitement, this Sunday’s Daytona 500 promises a spectacular start to the 2026 NASCAR season.
