🎂 Birthday Beats & NASCAR Fleets: Doobie Drops by Q92.9

The energy in the Q92.9 studio hit a different level this week when Doobie and his crew rolled through. We covered a massive amount of ground—everything from the surreal feeling of seeing his name plastered on a NASCAR ride to the gritty, unvarnished reality of life on the road.

The Mid-Tour Milestone

The guys are officially at the halfway point of their tour. And hey, full disclosure from your host: I may have told the airwaves they were headed to St. Louis, but they were actually Kansas City bound! (My bad, Q-Fam—let’s just blame it on the energy of interviewing artists.)

Despite the long miles ahead, the group couldn’t have been more down-to-earth. They pulled back the curtain on their creative process, breaking down the “secret sauce” and raw ingredients that make a track resonate.

A Soulful Performance: “Ghost In The Garden”

I’d heard whispers that Doobie’s music was raw and soulful, but seeing it live is a different beast entirely. They treated us to a performance of their ballad “Ghost In The Garden.” It’s a hauntingly authentic look at the pain of closing old chapters and the courage it takes to move on. You could hear a pin drop in the studio—it was pure heart.

Birthday Wishes & The Road Ahead

As if the visit wasn’t cool enough, it also happened to be Doobie’s birthday! We sent him off with some major Q92.9 love, and really enjoyed both the interview and some time off-air shooting the breeze.

The hustle doesn’t stop here, though:

  • Next Stops: Nashville, Indianapolis, New Jersey, Boston, Pennsylvania then Montreal!

  • Summer Plans: Keep an eye out for them hitting the stage at The Warped Tour!

Stay safe out there on the road, fellas. Big thanks for spending a part of your birthday with us!

Enjoy the session, Q-Fam!
